GLASS BEAD MOSAIC
We are the physical manifestation of Divine Consciousness. The entire universe is within our cells; we are the creators of it, created from it, and creating our physical experience in it. Our cells are made from atoms that vibrate with energy— energy that can neither be created nor destroyed and is present in everything, all the time. Our thoughts, feelings, dreams and fantasies are bursts of electrical energy, capable of permeating and affecting our physical surroundings.
I combine acrylic painting, whether figurative or abstract, with my signature, more contemporary, mixed media technique: I use gold leaf, semi-precious stones, glass beads, and eco-friendly butterfly wings to create mosaic jewels that play with contrasting textures. The application of the mosaic is a meditative, magical process through which I can focus on vibrations of love, health, and gratitude and thereby “charge” each piece with those energies.
The water series revolves around meditation, dreaming, and water as a conduit for both. I love getting lost in the ripples of the Gulf or pool; they are so meditative and relaxing. I find both places to be the best for planning, dreaming, and generally aspiring towards the future. Water truly has magical properties.
My beading is also a meditative process— hours, days, and weeks of laying in the mosaic. Using the beads, I "locked in" secret dreams and aspirations I had written on the canvas, thereby encrusting my dreams of a beautiful future.
The ripples in this piece are stylized, creating an abstract design; the texture of the beads creates a surreal, playful effect— a solidified impression of water.
